Recently I needed advanced sound hardware for my computer. Dolby® Surround 5.1 support was a must, several input and output options as well. Then I came across which appeared to be a reasonable choice. Sadly, manufacturer does not officially support, however, here is my quick guide to make it work nice and smooth. First of all, about the device:.
USB 2.0 interface. Intel parallel studio download crack idm. USB audio device class spec. That is actually the problem of Sandberg USB Sound Box 7.1 – it outputs surround only through analog.
Unfortunately, this is not specified anywhere when you buy this device, but TOSLINK here only outputs stereo only ? Or at least I didn’t find a way to output 5.1 or 7.1 through device’s TOSLINK (S/PDIF) out with Linux Mint (which is based on Ubuntu). Once I’ve tried this device on Windows XP netbook with Sandber’s official driver. However, then I calso couldn’t get anything more than stereo through optical out, therefore I assume Sandberg USB Sound Box 7.1 only supports stereo (PCM 2.0) for digital input and output. Please let me know if you findo out something more.
Hi there, I just installed Linux Mint 17.3 Mate Rosa and would like to have my Logitech Z Cinema, Windows XP based, software function, if that is possible? Z Cinema is just a usb ran surround sound effect computer audio system.
The soft ware is called V1.0 and is from Logitech. Below is my inxi -Fxz if needed: Thank you in advance for any support.
Hi 'ligwyd' I forgot to say, Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum! Here are some things that you might consider installing from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM): Ubuntu-restricted-extras Everything that starts with 'Qas', like the fantastic 'Qasmixer', that is sound related. There are some really nice graphical (GUI) programs for sound that start with 'Qas', like the fantastic 'Qasmixer', in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) that you can install and use.
Sound 'Mixers' can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with them. If you bring up 'Qasmixer', make it full screen, on the right side you will have mixer devices where you can control your system sound. The item 'sysdefault' will show all installed sound card devices and you will have various options to adjust various volume controls using 'sliders' which you can turn off and on using the 'dot' below the volume slider. There are also various other check boxes below that you can use. The applications included are: - qasconfig - browser for the alsa configuration tree - qashctl - mixer for alsa's high level control interface - qasmixer - desktop mixer with features similar to alsamixer qasmixer is a desktop mixer application for alsa's 'simple mixer interface' and offers features similar to alsamixer.
It also features a sytem tray icon with basic mixer functionality. Install 'libasound2-plugin-equal' which is another system wide equalizer that's in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) that shows up in 'QasMixer'.
If you want some help with Qasmixer, make it full screen, click 'sysdefault' on right, then hit printscreen, and post that screen shot back here. There is also an absolutely awesome sound program called 'veromix' mixer for sound, which can also control various sound functions, and use the myriad of various sound effects (LADSPA plugins) including surround sound encoders, (swh-plugins). I would imagine the 'openALl' sound libraries are already installed 'libal.'
Install 'Multimedia-jack' to install all the jack audio stuff too Hope this helps. Hi phd21, hey thanks for the suggestions. I really wish there was a way to take full advantage of the Logitech Z Cinema 'Surround Sound' option on my speakers. If not, ill survive. If you had to suggest 'the best' audio control program for linux mint 17.3 Mate Rosa 32 bit, what might be?
(if you haven't already suggested that in your previous post) I might just get into the software manager and pick a popular one and give it a shot. All the best, John (ligwyd) Audio: Card-1 Silicon Integrated Systems SiS SiS7012 AC'97 Sound Controller driver: sndintel8x0 Card-2 Creative Labs SB Audigy driver: sndemu10k1 Card-3 Logitech driver: USB Audio Card-4 Logitech driver: USB Audio Sound: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture v: k3.19.0-32-generic. Hi 'ligwyd', I have all the ones I mentioned in my previous reply installed. The Qasmixer can activate various options of your sound hardware, including microphones, maybe your surround sound options too. Install the 'Qas' programs, bring up qasmixer in full screen, click 'sysdefault', take a screen shot, and post that back here and let's take a look at it. You have at least 2 sound cards with two sound drivers, or maybe four sound cards according to the 'inxi -Fxz' results. I love 'Veromix' too.
I actually have two sound icons in my system tray panel, the regular one on the right, and now a Veromix one which I put on the left. Your Linux Mint system uses ALSA and PulseAudio for sound.
'Jack' - JACK is the de-facto standard audio server for working with professional audio on Linux. You do not need to install it.
Hope this helps. Hi again I have installed all 3 veromix and 4 quas program avail. From the Software manger.
Please find attached screen shot of quasmixer sysdefault as requested. I tried to attach the screen shot but it wouldn't let me? How is this done correctly?
Sorry for the novice question I'm pretty sure the Z cinama surround option 'needs'its MS based program to function to its intended capability however, there has to be a way to get that function working, not that its that much better anyway I guess. Maybe a program need to be written? I'll mess around and also look forward to hearing back when you may be able thanks alot for you help. Hi 'ligwyd', You are welcome. When you reply to a post, just below the reply box, at the bottom of that screen, there is a 'tab' for upload attachment, click that, then click the 'browse' button, and browse to your screen shot or picture file, click ok, then add a file comment (description) if you want, and click the button 'Add the file', your browser screen will refresh itself, go to to the bottom of your post and or reply, hit enter a couple times for a little space, or select a place in your reply, then click the button 'Place inline', and click 'Submit'. FYI: you can add up to 3 pictures, and I found that sometimes full screen shots are too big for this forum and won't be allowed, so using a compressed image format like '.jpg', or '.jpeg', work best.
You can usually select a screenshot format when 'saving' them. Hope this helps. Everything is off and down all the way except for Master Headphone and PCM which are cranked to the top with the exception of PCM at 4.5dB. I messed around all morning with as many of the functions as I could with both vermix and qasmixer programs and was unable to get sound out of the original stereo jack out put on the back of my tower and the stereo jack on the back of the creative audigy 2 sound card was producing alot of static? I might add, that this computer has been this way for several years now. It wasn't like that when it was new of course. I have simply been running the Logitech Z Cinema speakers via USB and as such was never worried about the 7.1 sound card or the original audio jack not functioning as per normal.
I wonder if the card is just faulty? Maybe the audio jack on the motherboard is faulty too or maybe it is cancelled due the sound going through USB? Tried the screen shot but couldn't get it into a proper file format. Thanks for you help phd21 I might do some digging and find out how to some more testing. Any wisdom is appreciated but if this is the end of the rope, thanks again John.
Hey hey!:) Got er! I didn't see any way to alter file format with 'Take Screenshot' that was already installed in Linux Mint 17.3. Shutter worked perfect!

So, I played around all day. Wife is not to pumped. Got a big pile of dishes waiting.they can wait I found a way in qasmixer to fix the crackling sound coming from all output in the sound card.
Really all it was, was the Wave and Audigy CD sliders. Just moved them down to nothing and it worked perfect! If I had enough audio equip I could run a full 7.1 surround sound system off that old Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0240 sound card, however my only goal for now was solving the crackling/ static sound. After watching a guy on you tube fix a static noise by adjusting down some sliders, I figured I'd give it a shot and sure enough, most the sliders were at the top. The next screen shot below is of the extensive control options, of my Sound Card, now made avail.
With Qasmixer. I guess Qasmixer and other programs alike, can replace MS based software and for the most part run your equip just fine, or maybe even better! Hi 'ligwyd', You are welcome. Okay, now we are getting somewhere. Yes, there are a lot of programs that actually work better in Linux than other os's. Okay, on 'qasmixer' screen 1, sysdefault - Your primary speaker and headset volumes are maxed out, you might want to lower them a little, crackling can come from volumes being to high - I would turn up the 3D control center, 3D control depth, iec958, playback to midway, or higher, adjust by listening to speakers and or headset.
Check the little 3D box at bottom. If you want to listen to CD/DVD's and or Video, turn on their sliders using the 'dot' below, and adjust to midway.
If you have a mic, and want to use it, click little mic in bottom lower right., if you need a mic boost, check that box as well. Okay, on 'qasmixer' screen 2, mixer hw, card 4: SB Audigy WOW that is a lot of controls - I honestly do not know what all of them mean.
Are you using an optical connection? - Turn down PCM Front a little - I would turn up the volume sliders on: surround, Audigy CD, HD Analog Center/LFE, HD Analog Front and Rear and Side, If you are using SPDIf then those too.
3d Sound Usb Driver Ubuntu
You might try the check boxes below for: Surround phase inversion and Sigmatel 4 speaker - one at a time to see what happens Okay, on 'qasmixer' screen 3, mixer hw, card 1:Z Cinema - Same things as above, try various options to see what works and what doesn't. You have a lot of sound options, some are HD for high definition and would be better that standard PCM, but try them out. Let us know which settings work best for you. Hope this helps.
